Bengaluru, August 14, 2026: Yash’s much-awaited Kannada film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has cleared a major pre-release hurdle after receiving an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The certification confirms that the film will be restricted to adult audiences in India and has also revealed an unusually long runtime of more than three hours.
The Geetu Mohandas-directed film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 26, 2026, and the CBFC clearance comes at a crucial stage of its promotional campaign. The certification is expected to further increase curiosity around a film that has already generated considerable attention because of its scale, star cast and dark action-drama setting.
‘A’ certificate confirms mature content
The Kannada version of Toxic was reviewed by the CBFC's Bengaluru regional office, which subsequently issued the adult-only certificate. An ‘A’ certificate means the film is intended for adult audiences and cannot be viewed by children in theatres under the certification rules.

A runtime of this length gives the filmmakers considerable space to develop the film's characters, world and narrative. However, it also places greater pressure on the screenplay and editing to maintain audience engagement throughout the theatrical experience.
A major project for Yash
Toxic marks an important project in Yash's career following the enormous success of the KGF franchise.
The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas, who has moved from critically acclaimed filmmaking into a large-scale commercial production. Yash is not only the lead actor but has also co-produced the film alongside producer Venkat K Narayana.
