Mumbai Woman Biker Dies in Chhattisgarh Crash While Riding Towards Bastar; 22-Member Group Left in Shock
Raipur, August 13, 2026: A cross-country motorcycle journey from Mumbai to Chhattisgarh's Bastar region ended in tragedy after a 24-year-old woman biker died in a road accident in Dhamtari district. The deceased has been identified as Riddhi Thakkar, a resident of Kandivali, Mumbai.
According to police and a report by The New Indian Express, Thakkar was travelling with a group of women riders on sports motorcycles as part of a planned trip to Kanker and Bastar. The group had set out from Mumbai and was approaching its destination when the fatal accident occurred at the Jagatra-Madkatola bend in Dhamtari district.
How the accident happened
The accident took place at a sharp curve on the road while the motorcycle group was travelling towards Bastar. Police said a speeding trailer approaching from the Bastar side collided with the convoy.
During the incident, one of the motorcycles lost control and struck the heavy vehicle head-on. The impact left Thakkar critically injured.
The location of the accident—a sharp bend—made the situation particularly dangerous, as vehicles travelling in opposite directions have limited visibility while negotiating such curves. Police are now investigating the exact sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the collision.
Fellow riders rushed to save her
Immediately after the crash, fellow members of the riding group came to Thakkar's assistance.
She was taken to a private hospital in Dhamtari for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of doctors and those accompanying her, her injuries proved fatal and she died during treatment.

Who was Riddhi Thakkar?
Riddhi Thakkar, 24, was from Kandivali in Mumbai and was the daughter of Divyesh Thakkar.
